FIGHTER WALLISCH AND HIS DECISION

I opened my Mac in the morning and the first post which pop up at my fb was video of Tom Wallisch.

One of my favourite athletes and great Freeskier made 10 minutes long, great video telling the story about his injury which usually happen to most of the skiers. Torn ACL.

Injury which cannot be healed in couple of days, includes a lot of pain and test a strong will of the athlete.
I have been through torn ACL as well and honestly it sucks. Knee is a join, which holds your entire weight and thats why it is one of the most laden join in your body. Because of daily use, it is difficult to heal or it takes long time (talking about couple of months/years). You must practise the muscles every day to keep your leg as strong as possible and avoid loosing lot of volume/muscles.
Even though you train like hell, you do focus on making the knee stronger and better I hardly doubt it will get as well as it was before.
You have to be careful every day you go sport. A one short moment on a bad landing and your effort can be all gone...

For Tom the injury came in a bad timing. I hope he will get well soon and I wish him all the luck!

MY INTERVIEW AT FREESKIER.SK

Because of my participation at Winter Universiade in Trentino, Erik from freeskier.sk asked me couple of questions about it. He asked about Italy and also my practise during the summer ... read more! (The interview is in Slovak language. Google Tranlator can be useful for people who speak English.)
Enjoy!

WINTER UNIVERSIADE TRENTINO 2013

Going to Trentino (Italy) for 26th Winter Universiade was a huge experience for me. I have never attended such a huge competition before.
This event is considered to be 'unofficial Olympics for students'. More than 2500 students from 50 countries competed in 12 winter sports. In freeskiing there were 26 boys and seven girls.

Slovakia represent.

With Murgi and Igor Janckulík we went there as Slovakia team in freestyle skiing. Alltogether we spent there 4 days. The park was awesome, shaped really nicely. The line consisted of rail, 2 kickers and rail again.

I tried to do my best, but unfortunately it didn't go so well. During the training day on the icy kicker I didn't landed my trick properly and I hurt my knee. Even though I hoped so much it would be ok for the competition, it was not and I have to take a hopefully short break to practise and help my knee to get stronger again.

3, 2, 1 ... start!

APRES SKI PRAGUE 2013

The number of the events with 'a real snow´ is growing every year. It is something special, unique, something u don´t see every day. It is even more odd when random people see such a circus the middle of some city. Some crazy people (riders) who slide the iron (rails) with the skis and make some rotations (tricks) usually attract people´s attention.
Such an event can be aimed as the main attraction of the day (Summer Snow Battle Tábor) or it is part of usually bigger event for instance Apres Ski in Prague.

Apres Ski took place at Rašínovo nábřeží, next to Vltava river at 12th-13th of October 2013. The entire event is considered to be a ´winter fun festival´.
Full of brands connected to the winter, with special program during the day, including already mentioned rail contest, made it interesting for a lot of people, riders and random tourists.

Me :).

As you can see from the pictures, set-up was really nice with three obstacles in the line.  The competition was prepared from freeride.cz, basically divided to sponsored and non-sponsored riders, freeski and snowboard.
I really enjoyed to ride with Zuzička Stromková. We had a lot of fun riding and trying a trick which came to our minds.

SUMMER BEST TRICK JAM SESSION vol. 2

Passion and love for the snow. Those are the words I would like to start this blog with. Guys, who organised and made this event possible definitely do it with passion and love for the sports, snowboarding and free skiing.

Winners :).

Summer Best Trick Jam Session took place as always in ski centrum Karolínka (eastern part of Czech republic) during Saturday, 5th of October 2013. It was (at least) the third time in a row this event was organised.

A lot of my friends from Czech and Slovakia came there. Traditional set-up with rails contained of the two rails, one street rail and one so called donkey-dick. When we arrived, guys were just distributing the snow to the set-up. Than riders slowly started tried to do their first tricks. The schedule was obvious - training, reshaping, snb training, snb final, reshaping, ski training, ski finals, results. Music was on, sun was shining... So we hit the rails!

Split in the two heats, riders were landing more and more difficult tricks.
I don't know much about snowboard tricks. In freeski part we could see some nice stylish slides, 27 in, switch-ups, 27out, and various combinations. My bro Richie and Igor Janckulík did a great job with 45 out or 360switch-up or transfers.

Later in the evening results were announced. From each category there was a winner:
SKI MEN: Richie Jurečka
SKI WOMEN: me :)
SNB MEN: Matej Dolník
SNB WOMEN: Maťa Molnárová

I enjoyed triding a lot. It showed me I still need to practise a higher rails, but I was still able to have fun. Chose and Pavlík put a lot of effort in the jam and everybody could feel it. I am looking forward for a winter-season in Karolínka, where every day is well-shaped snowpark and nice people.

Cya there! :)

BENELUX RAILBATTLE IN ANTWERPEN 2013

The first time I have visited Belgium was when I attended Benelux Railbattle in Antwerpen, 19th October 2013.

I haven't seen a lot from the city, we went straight away to the hall where was the really interesting and playful set-up. All together 6 rails, a little bit slushy snow, a lot of free skiers and snowboarders.
There were couple of girls free skiers as well, riding pretty good.

There is some pictures how it looked like there!
